Editing Page Content

Much of the time you spend in dotCMS will be for updating existing content. The training here will help you get your feet wet with updating the main sections of your pages.

Please visit the Best Practices section to learn more about customizing your text information for the Web and what to know before you create new content.  The Layouts & Style Guides section gives you examples of formatting, layout and styling options for your pages.


From the Website Browser:

  • After logging in to dotCMS you will be taken to the Website Browser tab.
  • Navigate to the page in your site that you want to update and double click on the name to preview it in edit mode.
  • Locate the portion of your page where you want to make the update, then click on the "Edit" button directly above that area.
  • Scroll down to the WYSIWYG on the Web Page Content item screen and make the desired changes.
  • Click "Save" or Save and Publish" once you are finished.

From the Content Tab:

  • From the dotCMS Administration Screen, click on the Content tab.
  • Ensure that "Web Page Content" is selected in the "Type" drop down on the left.
  • Fill in any applicable fields, such as "Title"or "Folder/Host" to narrow down which items you will see.
  • Click "Search".
  • Use the list that appears on the right to locate the content you wish to edit.
  • Click on the name of the applicable item to open it.
  • Scroll down to the WYSIWYG on the Web Page Content item screen and make the desired changes.
  • Click "Save" or Save and Publish" once you are finished.
