Linking

So, you have a document uploaded into a folder in dotCMS and now you want to link to it from a page.  This should help.

See the Best Practices section for suggested document preparation and organization.

  1. Using the Website Browser tab, navigate to the page where you will be adding a link to the document and double click on the name of the page to preview it.
  2. Edit the Web Page Content item where you want to add the linked document to.
  3. Highlight the text in the WYSIWYG that you want to create the link on.
  4. Click the "Insert/Edit Link" icon in the toolbar.
  5. In the dialogue box that comes up, click on the icon to the right of the "Link URL" field and browse to the folder in dotCMS where you already uploaded the document.
    OR
Follow the uploading from the WYSIWYG instructions to upload and link to a document at the same time.
  6. Click on the name of the document that you want to link to.

  8. Paste the link from the document's properties page that you copied above into the corresponding "Link URL" field.
Note: Make sure that your URL does not start with "http://www.coloradocollege.edu".  If it does you should remove that part.  The link should start with a "/" only, followed by the path to your document.  For example, "/other/wac/docs/example.doc".
  9. Make sure all the other applicable fields are filled in and then click "Save" or "Save and Publish"
