Internship at Amazon Advertising
San Francisco, CA

amazon logoJessie interned for Amazon Advertising, a small agency that manages advertisement campaigns for renowned companies including Kashi, Bear Naked Granola, and Yogi Tea. Jessie believes that her internship provided an excellent transition toward a serious career – especially since Amazon prides itself on upholding the highest professional standards, largely set by the company Co-Founder and CC alum Millie Olson. Millie stated that Jessie was an integral member of the Kashi brand research team, as Jessie wrote competition reports and conducted key research on company prospects.

As an intern, Jessie developed a report that served as the foundation for Amazon’s development of new advertising strategies. Using her Economics and Business thesis, she wrote consumer insight reports for Kashi and composed briefs on competitors’ corporate social responsibility campaigns. She contributed to a whole new “thought leadership” initiative at Amazon. Not only did her hard work as an intern earn her “a significant amount of trust and responsibility at Amazon,” as Jessie reports, but it also led to an offer for a full-time job position as Junior to Brand Planning. Jessie calls the Transitions Fellowship a “truly special program,” one that allowed her to pursue an unpaid internship that directly set her future career path.
