Sophomore Jump

The Sophomore Jump provides all sophomore students at Colorado College with opportunities to grow and develop personally, academically, and socially throughout their sophomore year. Please see below a list of events that might be of specific interest for sophomores.


Activities


Block I – VIII – Dinner Series – Second Tuesday of each block at 6:00 pm in the President’s Board Room, Armstrong Hall.

Ever wonder what made your professor decide to become a professor?  Curious about where your undergraduate degree will take you? Enjoy a meal with a faculty member and learn about his or her background and experiences.  RSVP is required. Email pspoelman@coloradocollege.edu. Watch for emails on the listserv.  Limited space is available for each Block.

The Art of Small Talk: Making Connections that Can Lead to Opportunities

Ever meet someone and have difficulty getting the conversation going? Or have you met someone doing something you were really interested in and didn’t know how to make the most of the

conversation? Alumnus Alan Ricks will share tips about how to prepare for homecoming and the potential conversations you will have with alumni. Ricks will share how conversations have led to

opportunities throughout his career journey and how you can take your experience and create your own story to market yourself in a professional way.

Mr. Alan Ricks was a Studio Art Major and Journalism Minor who graduated from CC in 2005. He went on to pursue graduate work in Architecture at Harvard and now runs MASS Design Group, an innovative architecture and design firm focusing on architecture and design solutions for public health on a global scale.  Ricks was listed this year in Forbes "30 under 30" entrepreneurs to watch and has won numerous awards.
