Newly admitted degree-seeking multilingual students may be invited to attend the Intensive English Institute, to be held June 30 through August 20th, 2014 at Colorado College, prior to International Student Orientation. This is a new initiative which is designed to provide students the opportunity to strengthen fluency with academic English prior to the beginning of the official school year. We currently have twenty seats available in this program and will accept students on a first-come, first-served basis.

Students will be invited to the Institute because their applications indicate they may benefit from intensive language instruction. The Institute will not only prepare students to succeed at CC but will also allow them to invest in their professional futures.

Students enrolled in this program will take two block-length courses for two units of credit. The coursework in this Institute will focus on an introduction to the study of the liberal arts and on the linguistic skills necessary to do well on the block plan. As a participant in the Institute, you will have the chance to delve into important social, political and/or cultural issues that loom large in both the real world and in the college environment. As a student at a liberal arts college, you will be challenged to engage your intellect as a careful reader, active listener, critical thinker, and analytical writer. The Intensive English Institute helps you sharpen these tools while developing collaborative relationships with faculty, staff and other students.

Throughout the program, student mentors will share their experiences with you and teach you about CC as only other students can. Because these connections with your mentors and other students are so important, we require students to live in a dorm while attending the Institute.

In addition to your academic work, you will have time to take advantage of leisure activities. Afternoon and weekend activities and field trips have been planned to help you enjoy the Colorado College campus and the wonders of the state of Colorado.

A comprehensive fee of $9100 will be charged to your student account for participation in the Intensive English Institute. This fee encompasses payment for the 2 units of course credit, room & board, extracurricular activities as well as transportation from the Colorado Springs Airport to the Colorado College campus.

Given the logistics and time necessary to apply for a visa, you are encouraged to make your decision to participate in the Institute as soon as possible. Students may opt into/out of this Institute through their account no later than May 1st, 2014. If you elect to participate in the Institute, additional details about the program and your arrival on campus will be emailed to you.
