Bike Co-op

Read the "Around the Block" article about the CC Bike Co-op from December, 2008.

The CC Bicycle Cooperative is an on-campus bicycle repair shop servicing the Colorado College Community. Their focus is to teach basic bicycle repair and maintenance techniques that will help keep CC bicycles on the road. The shop has a "do-it-yourself" environment where the staff seeks to provide the necessary tools, workspace, resources, and instruction to enable students to maintain their bicycles. Additionally, the bike co-op supplies the CC community with affordable bicycles reclaimed from the waste stream, allowing students the opportunity to build their own bike. The co-op is dedicated to increasing the number of cyclists at CC across the cycling spectrum, empowering all cyclists with the ability to understand and repair their own bicycle, and promoting the bicycle both as recreation and as a sustainable mode of transportation.

The co-op is located in the garages along the parking lot in front of Tutt Science Center, on Uintah. It is open and staffed weekday afternoons, with classes held each block to teach basic bicycle maintenance.

Yellow Bikes

The Yellow Bike program is a community bike-sharing organization, started in 2008 by students. CC students can buy one-time $15 memberships and receive a universal key that allows access to 12 yellow bikes around campus. The program is completely based on honesty and trust, and is planning to expand their bike fleet in the coming months.
