Breaking Bread
In order to encourage a greater sense of community for our students at CC, faculty and staff are invited to host students in their home with support from the Breaking Bread program. The college provides these funds to support any staff member or professor who invites students to his or her home for a meal. Please note that the objective of this program is not to support restaurant meals (including take-out) or field trips, but rather to encourage informal home-cooked meals at your place of residence in order to expand the opportunity for special contacts between students and Colorado College faculty and staff. Requests for reimbursement of meals taken in restaurants or for take-out (including pizza) will not be reimbursed.
The budget will provide funds to reimburse up to $5 per person (including immediate family) for the cost of groceries. Please do not use your p-card for your Breaking Bread purchases! You may request reimbursement for groceries by submitting your personal receipts to Karen Klein (x6684), Office of Student Life, Armstrong 100. Again, reimbursement will be provided up to $5 per person; amounts above $5 per person are not reimbursable. (Because of the strictness of Colorado law, you are advised not to serve alcohol at Breaking Bread meals, nor will you be reimbursed for alcohol cost).
If you plan to host students near the end of the year (i.e. blocks 7 and 8), please call the Student Life office (x6684) before making any purchases if you want to be assured of reimbursement, since funding is limited and is depleted significantly by that time.
Consider doing something just before or after campus events such as lectures, concerts, or athletic games to enhance the feel of community at CC.
