Jane Turnis - Vice President for Communications

Dear Campus Community,

I am pleased to announce that Jane Turnis will become vice president for communications effective July 1.  After joining CC in 2003 to conduct media relations for the college,  Jane became director of communications in 2009.  Among her many accomplishments as director of communications, Jane has worked toward improving the college's identity with more consistent logo use, design and messaging; she oversaw the web communications team's efforts on the new college website; and she is currently directing her team's redesign and restructuring of the alumni magazine, The Bulletin, which will debut in the coming year. Jane has been vital to our Year of Planning process and also has been a key resource for crisis communications. 

Prior to her tenure at Colorado College, Jane worked as a newspaper journalist for 17 years as an editor, reporter, columnist, page designer, and copy editor of news, business, and features at The Tampa Tribune, The (Colorado Springs) Gazette, The Clearwater (Fla.) Sun and the (Dubuque, Iowa) Telegraph Herald, and she won national and state awards for her news writing. She is on the Annapolis Group Communications Committee. Jane’s current community work includes serving on the advisory board of Colorado Women and Girls Lead, as a board member of the Black Rose Acoustic Society, and member of the Colorado Springs Crisis Communications Network. She is a former board member of the Black Forest Arts & Crafts Guild, member of the Manitou Springs Climate Action Team, and member of the fundraising committee of TESSA Colorado Springs.
