Student Cultural Center
The Student Cultural Center, located just two doors down from the Glass House in the East Campus Activities Quad, is managed by the Office of Minority and International Students. The SCC provides space for student group meetings and activities, academic classes, lectures, targeted population programs, tutoring and study sessions, recreational enjoyment, and a variety of other campus events. The SCC is open to ALL students, staff, and faculty on campus.
Some of the amenities of the Student Cultural Center include:
- Cable TV
- Computer work stations
- Full kitchen facilities
- Wheelchair access ramp
- Gender-neutral restrooms
- Extended evening study hours
- Culturally themed rooms with artwork donated by members of the campus community
- Large backyard with patio and grill
- Resource library
The SCC Resource Library contains an archive of materials and books, many of which are not found in Tutt Library, that have been collected by ethnic and minority students over the years. Additionally, there is an “old school” album collection and information on scholarships, internships, and summer opportunities for minority students in the library. Books, albums, and magazines may not be checked out of this room; however, anyone is welcome to utilize these resources for research on projects, papers, dissertations, or for pleasure.
Open Study Hours
Open study hours at the SCC are Sunday-Thursday, 4:00-10:00 p.m. Anyone is welcome to come in and study, relax, watch TV, meet with friends, utilize resources for research in the Reading Room, or cook a meal! There is also a Pie and Ice Cream Study Break the fourth week of each block for students.
