Mail Forwarding & Perishables

Mail Forwarding

Students are provided with the convenience of having their mail forwarded to their home address or an alternate temporary address during the summer months. You may also keep receiving your mail at your Worner Box however you must notify the Mail Services staff if you would like to keep receiving your mail at your Worner Box during summer break before the end of the last block. Students who have graduated will have their mail forwarded for one year. Mail will automatically be forwarded to the home address that the College has on file.  If you would like to have your mail forwarded to a temporary address during the summer months or after graduation, please email dkiick@coloradocollege.edu with your Temporary Forward Information or stop by the office to provide updates before the end of the last block. Mail forwarding begins the day after commencement for the summer. Mail Services does not forward mail or packages during Winter break.

All USPS mail and packages will be forwarded to address provided.  Packages delivered by other carriers, such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL, cannot be forwarded and can only be returned to sender.

Students are strongly encouraged to update all of their records and addresses to ensure the fastest mail delivery.

Mailing Perishables to Students

The U.S. Postal Service enforces general rules for sending perishables through the mail.

Perishable matter may be sent through the mail only if it can reach its destination in good condition in the normal transit time between the mailing and address points.

Perishable foods that do not rapidly decay or generate obnoxious odors in the mail may be sent at the mailer's risk.

Any container used to mail perishable matter must be constructed to protect and securely contain the contents.

Mail Services urges caution when sending perishables (i.e., food) to students by any carrier (UPS, U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, etc). The college is not responsible for perishable items sent to students.

Students are given the same notification as when any other package arrives for them in the form of a package slip in their Worner Box, but they may delay pick up for days or even weeks.

If you do mail a perishable item, please notify the student that the item will be delivered to their campus Worner Box address. Most packages do not fit inside student mailboxes, so it is necessary that the student pick up the package at the Worner Mailroom window during business hours. Packages arriving on a Friday may not be accessible until business hours the following Monday (or later in the event of a national holiday).
