Installing MS Office on Personal Computers
Several years ago, Microsoft made some fundamental changes to the way their licensing works, and the latest iterations of Microsoft Office require a periodic check-in with an on campus license server. If this check-in fails, which it will from a home network, then Office is deactivated. Employees are also legally obligated to remove an "At Home" installation of Office from a personal computer if they leave employment with Colorado College. For these reasons, Information Technology Services does not install Microsoft Office software on personal computers.
Because of our licensing agreement with Microsoft, current employees may purchase copies of Microsoft Office through the Home Use Program. Please contact the Help Desk (x6449, HelpDesk@ColoradoCollege.edu) for Colorado College's Program Code. Students can contact our Microsoft licensing partner, TechXtend, at 800.599.4388 for academic pricing on various Microsoft products.
