Map a Network Drive in Mac OS X

  1. Open Finder
  2. Click "Go."
  3. Click "Connect to Server."
  4. Type "smb://" followed by the server address. 
    1. Ex. smb://fileserver1/temp
  5. It may ask for your username and password. If it does, type in your Colorado College username and password and click continue.

List of commonly used drives

Personal network drive (H)

  • Faculty: smb://fileserver1/username
    • smb://fileserver1/jdoe
  • Staff: smb://admin1/username
    • smb://admin1/jdoe
  • Student: smb://fileserver1.coloradocollege.edu/students/username 
    • smb://fileserver1.coloradocollege.edu/students/j_doe

Department or Office shared network drive (I)

  • Faculty: smb://fileserver1/department
    • smb://fileserver1/english
  • Staff: smb://admin1/department
    • smb://admin1/reslife

Temporary Storage

  • All: smb://fileserver1/temp 
    • Please note that this drive is wiped once per block and is not meant for long term or safe data storage.
