Events for New Faculty
The College Fall Conference occurs on the Tuesday of the week before the start of block 1. Events will begin at 8:30 AM in Cutler Quad with coffee, informal conversation and name tags. The morning program will begin at 9:00 AM on the Worner Quad. Your department chair will be in touch with you about details for this event.
On Wednesday of the week before the start of block 1, the Teaching and Learning Center and the Dean's Office will host a New Faculty Retreat to the Colorado College Cabin for all new tenure-track faculty and year-visiting faculty. You will receive a letter of invitation in the summer mailing sent from the dean's office. This Retreat offers informal icebreaking opportunities for conversation and discussion about teaching on the block plan.
In the first week of the first block in the Teaching and Learning Center (Tutt Library, south basement), Deans Nelson-Cisneros and Noblett will conduct a "Nuts and Bolts" meeting for new tenure-track and one-year faculty. The director of Campus Security, the Registrar and the Dean of Student Life will offer short presentations, and we will have a general Q&A about the basic, functional aspects of College employment. You will receive more information about this event and its date/time in a mailing you will receive in the summer.
The Office of Human Resources conducts a series of small-group meetings to cover benefits packages and related information. For details about these meetings, which are held during New Student Orientation week, call the Office of Human Resources directly at (719) 389-6421.
