Disability Awareness Group (DAWG)
Overview:
The Disability Awareness Group is a student organization at the Colorado College that aims to educate the campus through advocacy and awareness about issues relating to disabilities. Their goal is to educate students, staff, faculty, and community members in an effort to make CC a more welcoming and accessible place to people with disabilities. The Disability Awareness Group seeks to build a strong civil skill set within their club members through hosting weekly meetings in which they facilitate engaging discussions that involve issues relating to disabilities. Since 2011, their focus has extended to community outreach through volunteer work. They have established a community partnership with Zach’s Place (Special Kids Special Families) in order to incorporate more of a service component into their mission.
