Emergencies

If you need an ambulance or in case of a fire, call the city emergency number, 9-911. Please state your exact campus location to the dispatcher. Then, notify Campus Safety at ext. 6911 or 6707. 389-6911 is the number reserved for on-campus emergencies. If you’re in on-campus housing at the time, alert a member of the residential life staff.

In case of a medical or psychological crisis, call the Boettcher Health Center, ext. 6384, where medical personnel and counseling staff are equipped to handle such situations, and notify a residential life staff member. For any situation where a student requires assistance in a residential building, please call the RA/HR duty phone for that area. These numbers are posted in each building.

In the unlikely event of a bomb threat, call Campus Safety, immediately. Note the time the threat was received and as much information as possible about the time the bomb is due to detonate, what kind of bomb it is, and any details about the caller’s voice.

Whenever there is a tornado watch or warning (a “watch” indicates that weather conditions are such that a tornado may form, a “warning” indicates that a funnel cloud has been sighted somewhere in the area), an alert will be announced by local radio and/or television stations. Proceed immediately to the basement of the nearest building. If there is no basement, go to the lowest possible floor until the all-clear signal is sounded.  For more information view the CC Emergency Preparedness page.

If an emergency involving CC students occurs off campus, immediately notify either the dean of students at 389-6684 or, on evenings and weekends, Campus Safety at 719-389-6707.
