Online Academic Community Selection
Select a product for Colorado College to serve as the basis for creating an Online Academic Community - at its core, this OAC should be what is usually referred to as a learning management system (built around courses and have features such as quizzes, gradebooks, discussion forums, etc.)
In addition, it should include social networking / community building features common in other products such as Facebook or LinkedIn. The hope is that if Facebook is for your personal life, and LinkedIn is for your professional life, the CC OAC will be for your academic life, and will be something students want to continue to be a part of after graduating.
We're looking for faculty volunteers to try using Canvas and/or Desire2Learn in classes this Fall. Please sign up here if you're interested, and we'll be in touch to help set it up.
You can also send us general thoughts or questions here.

As our selection process ramps up this Fall, the next major activity is for ATS to visit as many academic department meetings as possible to give some context on the project and, most importantly, ask for volunteers to try one of our two finalist systems (Instructure Canvas and Desire2Learn) in a block 3 or 4 class. Moodle (which is what we currently use for PROWL) is also still an option - if the faculty and students do not like either Canvas or D2L, we will stick with Moodle.
In Block 2, Canvas and D2L will each be offering 1 webinar per week - they are 30 minute demonstrations of their interface so everyone who wants to can get an idea what the systems look like. See the full schedule.
We've also created basic webpages with links to further resources for both Canvas and Desire2Learn).
