Three CC students translate at Olympic Games

Three Chinese-speaking Colorado College students are among five U.S. Olympic Committee interns working as translators in Beijing for the Olympic games. Phoebe Jiang, a rising junior, grew up learning the language from her Chinese parents; Matt Melloy, a rising junior, began his Chinese studies at CC; and Ryan Shuken, a senior who has studied Chinese at CC and spent 1 1/2 years in China, opened doors for other CC students to do longer-term study abroad in China. The CC Career Center coordinated the internships. The students, who are working at the USOC's operations center in Beijing, translate everything from directions to ticket information, and helped set up operations such as hiring taxi drivers before they arrived. Jiang is keeping a blog of her experiences at the Olympic games. Read it here
