Phoebe Lostroh Receives Janet Anderson Lecture Award

CC Biology Professor Phoebe Lostroh has received the Janet Andersen Lecture Award from the Executive Committee of the Midstates Consortium for Math and Science. The award recognizes “the excellent work you have done with undergraduate students, particularly in your research lab.”

As a winner of the award, Lostroh has been invited to speak at the Undergraduate Research Symposium in Biological Sciences and Psychology in the fall. The symposium will be held at the University of Chicago.

Lostroh was nominated by colleagues in a variety of departments: David Brown, associate math professor; Peggy Daugherty, assistant chemistry professor; Shane Heschel, associate biology professor; and Kristine Lang, associate physics professor.

Additionally, Lostroh has been invited to deliver a presentation on Bacterial Horizontal Gene Transfer and Food Safety,” funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, and to discuss science and the liberal arts at Zhejiang University in China this summer. She also will visit Jiangnan University in Tianjin and the Beijing Forestry University in Beijing.
