Introducing Family Weekend

Colorado College anticipates well over 500 participants at Family Weekend, a new venture for CC which kicks off Friday, Oct. 4, and runs through Sunday, Oct. 6. A variety of activities for family members will be offered.

Some may be familiar with CC’s formerly hosting Parents’ Weekend in conjunction with Homecoming. However, a dedicated Family Weekend now provides families with an opportunity to enjoy programming, share free time with their student, and experience college life on and off campus. It’s a great way for families to re-connect with their student and connect with the campus and surrounding areas in ways that are uniquely different than New Student Orientation and Homecoming.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience everything from hiking and rock-climbing with the Outdoor Education staff to tours of the newly-renovated facilities (Slocum Hall, Adam F. Press Fitness Center), open houses in major residence halls, a student/faculty research luncheon highlighting several collaborations across the disciplines, developing a “Wandering Map” with the Career Center staff, hearing President Jill Tiefenthaler report on the Strategic Planning process, and a student showcase featuring student films, performances, and exhibits. Athletic events also are represented, including women’s soccer and volleyball and a men’s hockey game at the Colorado Springs World Arena.

Homecoming Weekend is scheduled for the following weekend, Oct. 11-13.
