Emerick wins award at American Chemical Society meeting; students present research

Chemistry major Jay Emerick '10 received an award for best poster presentation at the American Chemical Society's Rocky Mountain Regional Meeting, held Aug. 29-Sept. 1 in Denver. He presented research that he conducted with Aaron Snyder '09; Nate Bower, professor of chemistry; and Marc Snyder, professor of biology, titled "Correlation of Bark Beetle Attack to Levels of Estragole in Ponderosa Pine." In addition, James Whitaker '06 presented a poster on research that he conducted with Emerick, Arron Wolk '09, Bower and Ben R. Williams titled "Chemometric Study of Ion Changes in Ponderosa Pine Trees Infected with Dwarf Mistletoe" at the ACS meeting. Read the abstract:
