Heidi R. Lewis to Be Published in the Journal of Popular Culture

Heidi R. Lewis, Assistant Professor of Feminist & Gender Studies, was recently notified that her article, “Let Me Just Taste You: Li’l Wayne and Rap’s Politics of Cunnilingus,” was accepted for publication in the Journal of Popular Culture. The article was heavily inspired by a popular piece she wrote for NewBlackMan entitled “Li’l Wayne and the New Politics of Cunnilingus in Hip Hop” in 2012.

The Journal of Popular Culture, the official publication for the Popular Culture Association, is a peer-reviewed journal intended to “break down the barriers between so-called ‘low’ and ‘high’ culture and focuses on filling in the gaps a neglect of popular culture has left in our understandings of the workings of society.” The journal is published six times annually, and is available in nearly 1500 university libraries throughout the world.
