Colorado College Noted Nationally for Outstanding 'Green' Efforts

Colorado College has been named one of 15 Green Rating Honor Roll colleges for 2010. The Princeton Review, in its second year of the rating, collected data about environment-related policies, practices and academic offerings from 697 colleges and universities. Colorado College is among the 15 that received the highest possible score. Criteria cover three areas: 1/ whether the college or university's students have a campus quality of life that is healthy and sustainable 2/ how well the institution is preparing its students for employment and citizenship in a world defined by environmental challenges and 3/ the college or university's overall commitment to environmental issues. Specific areas examined include energy use, recycling, food, buildings, transportation to academic offerings, availability of environmental studies courses, and action plans and goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition, Colorado College's environmental efforts were featured in a Reuters news storyEarthFirst U's Green College Spotlight, and a story at GreenerBuildings.com.
