CC's Education Program Recognized

Colorado College has been recognized as a top college for teacher education. “Top Colleges in Colorado Shaping the Next Generation” highlights the post-secondary institutions in the state that produced the most education graduates during the 2012 school year.

“We always welcome recognition that students from our licensure program, whether undergraduates or from our MAT program, are well prepared for the teaching profession,” said Mike Taber, department chair and associate professor of education. “We are proud that more than 90 percent of our graduates find employment immediately after completing licensure requirements, and that more than 70 percent remain in the profession after 10 years.  This attests to the strength of our preparation program and in the importance of developing our brightest students to become teachers.”

The College Database, which compiled the information, used the following methodology to identify the top colleges shaping the next generation:

  • Must be fully accredited
  • Four-year colleges only
  • Public or private, not-for-profit colleges only
  • No for-profit schools
  • U.S. colleges only
  • A minimum of 10 graduates from education or teaching programs in 2012
