MORE THAN 2,000 ALUMNI, PARENTS AND FRIENDS
EXPECTED AT CC HOMECOMING WEEKEND
Athletic competitions, community service project included in events
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Oct. 5, 2006 – Colorado College is expecting more than 2,000 alumni, parents and friends to attend its 2006 Homecoming and Parents Weekend, scheduled for Friday-Sunday, Oct. 6-8. Weekend activities include class reunions, departmental open houses, athletic competitions including football, hockey, volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer, community service projects, lectures and an awards presentation.

12:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6
Helping HUNGRRR — Worner Campus Center, 902 N. Cascade Ave.
CC community volunteers will pack lunches for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness
Group students to distribute to the homeless. Children and families are welcome
to color small pictures or write simple notes to be included in the sack lunches.
All materials will be provided. Sponsored by the Student/Alumni Association,
Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Group, and the CC Center for Service and Learning.

Class Stone Ceremony – McHugh Alumni Plaza, Western Ridge Housing Complex,
1090 N. Cascade Ave.
Reunited classes place their class stones in the plaza. Each stone is inscribed
with a slogan that captures the essence and flavor of the time these classes
were at CC. Free.

Tiger Walk Parade of Classes — From McHugh Alumni Plaza east across campus
to Shove Memorial Chapel, 1010 N. Nevada Ave.
Homecoming convocation begins with the class stone ceremony at 10 a.m. at Alumni
Plaza outside the Western Ridge Apartments. From there, the Tiger Walk Parade
of Classes will walk – led by CC’s Balinese band, Tunjung Sari –
from Alumni Plaza at McHugh Commons to Shove Memorial Chapel for the presidential
welcome and a presentation of the Alumni Association Awards. Sponsored by the
Colorado College Alumni Office. Free.

Presentation of Benezet, Worner, Riley Alumni Association Awards – Shove
Memorial Chapel, 1010 N. Nevada Ave.
CC President Richard F. Celeste will present the welcoming address in Shove
Memorial Chapel following the Tiger Walk Parade of Classes; presentation of
Alumni Association Awards will follow. The 2006 recipients of the Louis T. Benezet
Award for career achievement are Rich Brotherton '81 and Sharon Young '60. The
Lloyd E. Worner Award for remarkable efforts on behalf of the college will be
presented to Bill Ward '64. The Gresham Riley Award recognizing faculty, administrators
and staff who have made a significant difference to the college will be presented
to Horst and Helen Richardson for being integral to the German and athletic
departments, and to Gini Londry, longtime employee at the CC Bookstore. Sponsored
by the Colorado College Alumni Office. Free.

Patrick Guerriero, GLBT Address and Panel Discussion — Packard Hall, 5
W. Cache La Poudre St.,
Patrick Guerriero, the newly appointed executive director of the Gill Action
Fund and former national executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans (from
2002-2006), will discuss "Gay and Lesbian Rights and the Federal Marriage
Amendment." A panel discussion, led by alumni, will follow. Sponsored by
GLBT Alumni of Colorado College. Free.
