CC FRENCH CINE-CLUB PAYS TRIBUTE
TO ACTOR GERARD DEPARDIEU WITH NEW FILM SERIES
Films shown in French with English subtitles
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Feb. 2, 2007 – The Colorado College French Cine-Club will present a new film series featuring French actor Gerard Depardieu that will run on most Mondays from Feb. 5 through May 7. Showings are free and open to the public, and all films will run in French with English subtitles.
Gérard Depardieu started his acting career at the small traveling theatre “Cafe de la Gare.” In his first major film role, he developed a new kind of hero in French cinema, and his popularity grew enormously. Later he became the leading French actor of the 1980s and 1990s. He was awarded a César as Best Actor for “Le Dernier Métro” (1980) and “Cyrano de Bergerac” (1990), and received an Oscar nomination for “Cyrano,” as well as a number of awards at international film festivals.
