Ben-Amots selected for Fulbright Specialists project

January 29, 2008

Ofer Ben-Amots, associate professor of music, was selected for a Fulbright Senior Specialists project in the Czech Republic at the University of Hradec Kralove during 2008, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Ben-Amots will lecture on a variety of topics including Jewish-American music, musical creativity and composition, among others. In addition, he will participate as a guest composer in the production of his new chamber opera “The Dybbuk.”

Ben-Amots is one of more than 400 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad this year through the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program. The Fulbright Senior Specialists Program, created in 2000 to complement the traditional Fulbright Scholar Program, provides short-term academic opportunities (two to six weeks) to prominent U.S. faculty and professionals to support curricular and faculty development and institutional planning at post-secondary academic institutions around the world.
