Senate Confirms Two More Colorado College Alumni for Government Leadership Positions - Colorado College

Two more Colorado College alumni tapped to serve in government leadership positions have been confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

On Oct. 22, the Senate unanimously approved Marcia Kemper McNutt ’74 as the first female director of the U.S. Geological Survey and science adviser to the secretary of the interior. McNutt cited her Colorado College experience on the Block Plan in her confirmation hearing: http://arizonageology.blogspot.com/2009/10/mcnutts-testimony-at-senate.html.

The week before, the U.S. Senate confirmed Harris Sherman ’64 as agriculture undersecretary for natural resources and environment. The position oversees the Forest Service and conservation projects at the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
