Theater: Face the CityAn edgy, contemporary "Dead Poets Society" meets "Stand By Me," "Face the City" is a live rock, multimedia theatrical experience about an idealistic dreamer who leaves his high school past only to find roads of disillusionment in the real world. The last night of a high school dream is celebrated by The Painter, The Journalist, and The Composer as told by The Performer. The four teenage boys embark on a journey that takes them into the forbidden underbelly of East L.A., a fantasy flight on the "Rock Dragon" and an ascent up "The Bridge" that serves as a metaphor throughout the show. "Face the City" is the inspirational true story about redemption and the recapturing of innocence in a society that so readily tries to define who you are. With Jesse Wilson, writer/performer, and musician Mad Francis. Sponsored by the CC Summer Festival of the Arts. Location: Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Center, 825 N. Cascade Ave.
