CC Annual Arts & Crafts SaleSale: CC Annual Arts & Crafts Sale
The CC Annual Arts & Crafts Sale will be larger than ever, featuring handcrafted works represented by the artists and craftpersons at the sale. About 60 juried professional Colorado artists will sell alongside CC students. The sale features fiber arts, jewelry, glass, pottery, woodworking, prints, photography, paintings, books, greeting cards, leather, handmade soaps and candles. Sale open until 8 p.m. Friday; continues Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. Sponsored by the arts and crafts program.

Rally: Darfurian Refugee Camp Construction
Help build a structure similar to those that more than 2.5 million Darfurians are living in, as a result of the ongoing genocide that is taking place in Darfur, Sudan. This is an opportunity to put yourself in the place of a Darfurian and construct a home out of the materials that are available to the Darfurian refugees: plastic bags, cardboard, sticks, etc. The structure is designed to educate the CC community about the mounting refugee crisis in Darfur and in eastern Chad as a result of the genocide. Sponsored by STAND (Students Taking Action Now: Darfur).

Bookstore Holiday SaleSale: Bookstore Holiday Sale
For one day only, select the books and merchandise you wish to purchase, take them to the cashier and draw for discounts ranging from 15% to 50% off. Buy officially licensed CC merchandise, books and unique gifts for everyone on your list and draw for a discount. Refreshments will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; bookstore hours the day of the sale are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Textbooks and special order items do not qualify for discounts.

Teaching and Learning in GhanaPresentation: Teaching and Learning in Ghana
As a recipient of the McHugh Leadership Fund, Rachel Deutsch will be using this opportunity to both give a presentation of her experience in Ghana this summer as well as turn it into a philanthropic event for the school that she taught at while in Ghana. Rachel will be selling her photographs and donating all the proceeds back to the school in Ejura, Ghana. Sponsored by the Center for Service and Learning.

Lecture: Aficionados Luncheon and Lecture : "Leaving Your Mark Behind"
Ruben Archuleta, sculptor, author, santero and the retired police chief of Pueblo, will discuss "Leaving Your Mark Behind." Mr. Archuleta will incorporate themes from his three books, "Land of the Penitentes, Land of Tradition," "I Came From El Valle" and "Eppie Archuleta and the Tale of Juan de La Burra," into his talk. Lecture: "Nietzsche's Critique of Compassion"
Clifford Orwin, professor of political science at the University of Toronto, will discuss "Nietzsche's Critique of Compassion." Orwin is the author of "The Humanity of Thucydides" and co-editor and co-author of "The Legacy of Rousseau," as well as many scholarly and journalistic articles, ranging from Aeschylus to humanitarian military interventions. His main current project, from which this lecture is drawn, is a book for the general public tentatively titled "Compassion Trips: Sorrowful Journeys in a World of Hurt." Benefit: Empty Stocking Fund Extravaganza
This will be a fund-raiser that includes a dodge ball tournament and carnival. All proceeds go to benefit the Empty Stocking Fund, an annual fund-raising drive run by the El Pomar Foundation and the Gazette. All money raised goes to help 14 local non-profit organizations during the holiday season. Numerous student organizations will be running the carnival booths and hosting dodge ball teams. Sponsored by the Empty Stocking Fund committee and CC's Center for Service and Learning.

Festival of Lessons and CarolsConcert: Festival of Lessons and Carols
This candlelight service of scripture readings, congregational carols and musical presentations to celebrate Christmas has been sponsored by the CC chaplains' office for more than 40 years in the stately beauty of Shove Memorial Chapel, which is observing its 75th anniversary this year. College organist Frank Shelton and the CC Chamber Chorus, directed by CC Choral Director Deborah Teske, will join readers, dancers and other musicians in the time-honored service that originated at King's College, Cambridge, England. The festival will take on a Celtic flavor this year, with the lessons read in Old English. Sponsored by the CC chaplains' office.

Presented by Rebecca W. Watson, this lecture is the first in the series titled "Energizing the Rockies: Energy Challenges in Global, National and Regional Perspectives." Watson is a partner at Hogan & Hartson, and has more than 20 years of legal and policy experience in the fields of natural resources, federal environmental law, energy and recreation. She served as the Department of the Interior assistant secretary for lands and minerals management during President George W. Bush's first term. The Back Row - Winter ConcertConcert: The Back Row - Winter Concert
The Back Row, Colorado College's all-male a cappella group, will host its winter concert. With a focus on contemporary rock, pop, country and hip hop music, Back Row will sing vocal renditions of Coldplay, Maroon 5, Boyz II Men, Rascal Flatts and more. One of the group's songs, "Peaches," was culled from 1,000 submissions as one of just 19 songs selected for the prestigious BOCA (Best of Collegiate A Cappella) CD. Sponsored by The Back Row.
