Greetings!
We wanted to let you know that we will be performing network
cutovers in your building today, March 22nd starting at
around 4:00 p.m. This means that for some time interval
after 4:00, your network connectivity will go out.
In terms of your work flow, we suggest that you save your
work frequently and watch for IT staff who will do all that
they can to let you know when to expect the outage, and
when the outage is complete. This time window might afford
you a good break from computer/network tasks - some staff
are doing office filing and spring cleaning, or scheduling
meetings in other buildings, or even working from home.
If you need computer access during this time, let us know
and we'll give you guidance on public computer labs where
you might work (in buildings already cutover or otherwise
not impacted by this particular outage window).
When you return on Friday, you will be on the new network!
(Remember that until the process is complete for everything
in mid-may you won't notice a performance increase).
You will find a sheet of instructions on your computer
or office door for a brief computer registration process
that you will need to complete before your computer will
access the network. We recommend you come in a little early
on Friday to allow for this process - we will have a team
of IT staff in the building to help you register and answer
any questions.
Printers will not work until we set them up on the new
network, which will be happening throughout the day on Friday
- if you have a printer you need to get working asap, call
the Help Desk and we'll do what we can to move it to the
front of the list.
