Traditional Halls

Life in a residence hall is an exciting new adventure. At the start of the year, you're living with a bunch of strangers. By the end of the year, you won't be able to imagine life without them. That's our focus for first-year traditional halls: community. Encounter people completely different from you. Stay up late talking philosophy with your hallmates. Form an FYE study group in the Loomis Lounge. Look at life through another lens. This quintessential college experience is one you will never forget.

The Basics

Loomis, Mathias, and Slocum are CC's three traditional residence halls, housing a mix of first-year and sophomore students. Each has its own character and is located in a different place on campus, but all are equipped with a kitchen, a TV room, laundry facilities, common areas, study niches, and a recreation space. The halls are coeducational and consist of mainly doubles, with a few triples and singles in the mix. Students can request to be placed in a substance free or single gender wing.

Each traditional residential building houses a Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) responsible for that building and student Resident Advisors (RAs) responsible for building community. RAs organize events and gatherings, respond to relationship conflicts and safety issues, and work to facilitate hall bonding. RLCs and RAs jointly plan events for the entire residence hall.
