About These Music Reference Resources

These pages are a guide to finding information about music, both on and off the Colorado College campus. They will also aid in the location of musical works, themselves*. You will find sources in print and electronic formats. Keep in mind that those old school print sources are often the best and quickest materials for finding what you want.

Also, don’t hesitate to take advantage of that other reference format—human librarians. We’re addicted to the thrill of the hunt!

Ask us if:

  • You can’t find it
  • You’re not sure what you’re looking for

Each entry is briefly described and includes location information. Titles are linked to TIGER, the campus OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog).

This is an expanding project, so check back often for new entries!

*FINDING MUSIC CAN BE CHALLENGING, EVEN IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR!!!

Unlike text, a musical work isn’t about something. Usually, musicians are most interested in the work’s form (score, CD), genre (symphony, jazz ballad), and instrumentation (what forces perform the work). Many of these sources will supply that information, making the search in TIGER more efficient AND faster.
