Library Cards
Alumni, upon filling out a registration card and presenting a current ID, are issued special library cards at the Circulation Desk. Alumni must reside in the Colorado Springs area to have circulation privileges.
Loan Periods
- Books and scores – 30 days (limit 5)
- Sound recordings (CDs only) – 5 days (limit 5)
- Sound recordings (cassettes, LPs, reel-to-reel) – DO NOT CIRCULATE
- Video recordings – 24 hrs (limit 2)
Renewals
Renewals are permitted for most items that do not have a hold placed on them. No renewals for CDs and videos.
Items may be renewed as follows:
- In person at the Circulation Desk
- By phone (719) 389-6560
- By using the “View My Record” option from the Tutt Library homepage or “My Tiger Record” from the TIGER Catalog homepage
- By Emailing Seay Library
Interlibrary Loan
Alumni may borrow up to 3 books (at any given time) through Interlibrary Loan. Contact the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator at 389-6664 for more information or Email Interlibrary Loan.
Alumni may not request items via Prospector.
Returning Materials
Those using library materials (in or out of the building) are responsible for any deterioration in the condition of the materials while in their use, and also for the safe and timely return of the materials.
Please see library policy regarding replacement for lost or damaged material.
Designated return areas are the following:
- The Circulation Desk
- The book return bin, outside the library door, for after-hours return.
- Tutt Library, when Packard Hall is closed.
Overdues and Fines
Overdue Books/Scores
$ .50 per day for each overdue item (with a maximum of $10.00/item)
$5.00 per day for recalled items
Overdue CDs and Videos
$2.00 per day for each overdue CD/Video with a maximum fine of $10.00. No grace period. Account will be suspended for CD check-out privileges if any fines are owed for overdue CDs or Videos.
All Circulation privileges will be suspended if fines exceed $10. Privileges will be restored when account is cleared.
You are responsible for the timely return of all materials, whether or not you receive any reminder or overdue notices from the library.
Holds and Recalls
Alumni may not place holds on materials.
An item is subject to recall if the current borrower has had it for more than two weeks. Items recalled for reserve or for classroom use must be returned immediately.
If an item is recalled, it must be returned immediately. Fines will accrue at $5.00 per day.
Non-Circulating Materials
The following types of materials do not circulate.
- Reference materials
- Sound recordings (cassettes, LPs, reel-to-reels)
- Microforms
- Any material marked “non-circulating” (e.g. “Library Use Only” or “Not to Leave the Library”)
- Periodicals
Use of Seay Library Resources
Online Catalog Access
Alumni may search the TIGER catalog through the music library’s URL http://www.coloradocollege.edu/library/seay from any computer with internet access. Call the Circulation Desk at 389-6560 for help.
Periodical Database Access
Alumni may not access our online periodical databases remotely (from off-campus via a password). Our licensing contracts specify that only faculty, staff and currently enrolled students may access these resources from off-campus.
Confidentiality of Records
Library circulation records and other records identifying the names of library patrons are confidential in nature. Such records will not be made available except pursuant to legal process, order or subpoena.
