Who May Borrow
Summer Institute participants may borrow material from the Seay Library while attending any summer program at CC.
Application Procedure
To apply for borrowing privileges, individuals must present a CC Gold Card or Summer Institute ID tag and complete a Non-CC Application Card. Borrowing privileges are valid only during the summer program and will expire one day before the end of the program.
Loan Periods
- Books and scores – 1 day before end of summer program
- CDs – 5 days
- Videos and other sound recordings (cassettes, LPs, reel-to-reel) – DO NOT CIRCULATE
Renewals
Renewals are not permitted.
Returning Materials
Those using library materials (in or out of the building) are responsible for any deterioration in the condition of the materials while in their use, and also for the safe and timely return of the materials.
Please see library policy regarding replacement for lost or damaged material.
Designated return areas are the following:
- The Circulation Desk
- The book return bin, outside the library door, for after-hours return.
- Tutt Library, when Packard Hall is closed.
Overdues and Fines
Overdue Books/Scores
- $ .50 per day for each overdue book/score (with a maximum of
$15.00 per book) - $5.00 per day for recalled items
You are responsible for the timely return of all materials, whether or not you receive any reminder or overdue notices from the library.
Overdue CDs
- $2.00 per day for each overdue CD, with a maximum fine of $10.00.
- Borrowing privileges will be blocked if any CD is overdue for 3 days or more.
Holds and Recalls
Summer Institute participants may not place holds on materials.
An item is subject to recall if the current borrower has had it for more than two weeks. Items recalled for reserve or for classroom use must be returned immediately.
Fines will accrue at $5.00 per day.
Non-Circulating Materials
The following types of materials do not circulate.
- Reference materials
- Cassettes, LPs, Reel-to-Reel tapes
- Video recordings
- Microforms
- Any material marked “non-circulating” (e.g. “Library Use Only” or “Not to Leave the Library”)
- Periodicals
Confidentiality of Records
Library circulation records and other records identifying the names of library patrons are confidential in nature. Such records will not be made available except pursuant to legal process, order or subpoena.
