Interlibrary Loan

Materials borrowed through Interlibrary Loan have due dates that are set by the owning library. It is important that these borrowed materials be returned on time.

Please note: Materials borrowed through Interlibrary Loan MAY NOT be placed on course reserves.

For Interlibrary Loan information, please click on the following link: Interlibrary Loan. If you have any questions or need additional information, please call the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator at 389-6664 or email Interlibrary Loan.

Prospector

Items borrowed through Prospector have a 21 day check-out time and one 21 day renewal. Check-outs and renewals are set system-wide for all participating libraries so extension of due dates beyond 42 days is not allowed. Replacement for lost or damaged items will be billed at the Amazon price chosen by the library and a $25 processing fee. Replacement charges for bound journals from Pascal (storage) are set at $400 and items borrowed from The Center for Research Libraries can be $1000. Faculty members who check out and then loan Prospector items to students are responsible for the return or cost to replace them.

Returning Materials/Fines

To maintain an accurate physical inventory of the collection, we ask faculty to return books/scores after one year. If still needed, books may be checked out again at that time. Overdue fines are not charged to faculty, but faculty are charged replacement costs for materials that are lost or damaged. Materials that have been overdue for more than six months will be assumed lost, and faculty may be billed for replacement costs. Please see library policy regarding replacement for lost or damaged material.

Faculty who will be out of the Colorado Springs area for sabbatical or other extended periods of time should return all library materials before departing.

Designated return areas are the following:

  • The Circulation Desk
  • The book return bin, outside the library door, for after-hours return.
  • Tutt Library, when Packard Hall is closed.

Interlibrary loan materials should be returned to Tutt Library.

Holds and Recalls

Use a Hold if you would like to be next-in-line to receive an item that is currently checked out. To place an item on hold click on the "Request" button found at the top of the screen of the item record in the TIGER Catalog. You will be notified by email when the item is ready to be picked up at the Seay Circulation Desk.

Use a Recall if you need to request a checked-out item for urgent use. Material is subject to recall if the current borrower has had it for more than two weeks. To place a recall, call the Circulation Desk (389-6560) or come in and make the request in person. You will be notified by phone or email when the recalled item has been returned.  Recalled material must be picked up within ten days of the date of the notice of availability. If it is not picked up within this time, it will be returned to the shelves or given to the next person on the waiting list.

If an item you have checked out is recalled, it must be returned immediately.

Confidentiality of Records

Library circulation records and other records identifying the names of library patrons are confidential in nature. Such records will not be made available except pursuant to legal process, order or subpoena.
