Borrowing Policy for CC Faculty

Books

Books circulate to faculty for six months, but may be recalled for another user after two weeks. Faculty may renew loans one time on TIGER or by calling the Circulation Desk at 389-6184. Books circulate to visiting faculty for six months or less depending on the length of time on campus. The expiration date for visiting faculty accounts will be set at time of registration at the Circulation Desk.

To maintain an accurate physical inventory of the collection, we ask faculty to return books after one year. If still needed, books may be checked out again at that time. Overdue fines are not charged to faculty, but faculty are charged replacement costs for materials that are lost or damaged. Materials that have been overdue for more than six months will be assumed lost and faculty may be billed for replacement costs. Faculty who will be out of the Colorado Springs area for sabbatical or other extended periods of time should return all library materials before departing.

Videos/DVD’s

Tutt Library purchases DVD’s and Videos at the request of faculty members for use within the classroom or as supplementary material to support a specific course. Faculty may check out ten videos/DVD’s at a time. The loan period is 30 days, with one renewal allowed. Videos and DVD’s may be recalled at any time if needed for instruction. If you need to borrow more than ten videos or DVD’s, ask a circulation supervisor. To place videos or DVD’s on reserve for a class, speak to Marianne Aldrich, Circulation Services Coordinator at 389-6189.

Interlibrary Loan and Prospector material

Materials borrowed through Interlibrary Loan and Prospector (which includes the Center for Research Libraries) have due dates that are set by the owning library. It is important that these borrowed materials be returned on time.

Periodicals and reference material

Three-day checkout to faculty. No renewals. Exceptions must be approved by a reference librarian.

Confidentiality of Records

Library circulation records and other records identifying the names of library patrons are confidential in nature. Such records will not be made available except pursuant to legal process, order or subpoena.
