What I do

I oversee the Library Systems and Cataloging departments of Tutt Library.

The Library Systems department maintains the III Millennium integrated library system (aka the TIGER catalog), the library website, the library’s link resolver (aka TuttLink), cataloging and interlibrary loan systems, and all library staff workstations. Library Systems also maintains the student computers in the library lobby area, TLC1 and TLC2, and shares support of the Tutt north basement computers with Educational Technology Services. More generally, we support technology planning projects and initiatives at the library.

The Cataloging department creates, updates and manages the metadata records contained within the TIGER catalog that describe the books, journals and other resources that are available as part of the library’s collection. These records are created to local and national standards and are systematically synchronized with Prospector and WorldCat to enable Prospector borrowing and interlibrary loan as well as the local use and circulation of library materials within Colorado College.

Special projects lately include the batch creation and conversion of metadata records into the METS XML format using XSL transformations for the loading and preservation of digital objects in the forthcoming Digital Archives of Colorado College.
