Thesis Binding Policy 2009

General Guidelines

Every thesis must have a Thesis Bindery Information Form attached to it. If you turn in 3 theses, there must be three forms!

Economics & Business Department USE THIS FORM.

Library Copy Guidelines

Please read this checklist carefully:

• The thesis copy I am submitting to the library is an original printed copy (not photocopied), printed on white, normal weight, ACID-FREE PAPER. Acid-free paper is available at all Tutt Library printers, the CC Bookstore and from some academic departments.

• The thesis copy I am submitting to the library is an exact duplicate of what is given to the department, including all appendices and color illustrations. This is important because the library maintains the archival copy of your thesis.

• My thesis is printed single-sided and double-spaced on 8 1/2 × 11-inch paper. The margins are: 1 inch at top, bottom, and right side, 1-1/2 inches on the left side for binding purposes.

• My thesis has a title page with the following information (in order): title, your name as author, the department you are graduating from, and graduation date. (Any discrepancy between the year printed on the title page and the graduation year on the Thesis Bindery Information Form will result in delays in the bindery process until the discrepancy is resolved. Please make sure the years are the same in both places).

• A Thesis Bindery Information Form is completed, and accompanies my thesis.

• My thesis is placed in a manila folder to protect it during processing (one thesis per folder).

• I have turned in the library copy of my thesis (along with the department copy and any personal copies) to my department.

Department Copy

If the department wishes to have a bound copy of the thesis, follow the same guidelines (above) as for the library copy.

• There is no charge for the first department copy.

• Each thesis must be accompanied by a completed Thesis Bindery Information Form.

• The department coordinator is responsible for collecting the student fees and sending all the copies of the thesis to the library along with a Colorado College Journal Entry to cover the fees for the personal and extra department thesis copies to be bound.

• Department coordinators will be notified when the bound theses have returned from the bindery. Department copies and student personal copies will be picked up from the library by the departments.

Student Personal Copy

If the student wishes to have a bound copy (or copies) of his or her thesis, follow the same guidelines (above) as for the library copy.

• Student copies are $10.00 each and must be paid for before they are sent to the bindery. The student’s department is responsible for collecting the fees for personal copies and sending all the copies of the thesis to the library. If the student brings his/her own thesis to the Library, they may pay with cash or a check made out to “Colorado College.”

• Each thesis must be accompanied by a completed Thesis Bindery Information Form.

• Tutt Library does not mail out student theses, so it will be necessary for the student to provide a mailing address where the department can send the student copies when they are returned from the bindery.

Any requests made for a bound personal copy a year or more after the student has graduated, in which they are unable to provide an electronic or unbound paper copy of their thesis, will require us to photocopy the bound library copy of that thesis. The fee for this service is $20.00 for the photocopying and binding and $10.00 for shipping and handling.
