Library Services for Students
The collections and services of Tutt Library are designed to serve Colorado College students. We understand the pressures of the block plan, and we are committed to helping students succeed.
Research is hard work; you don’t need to go it alone. Let one of our reference librarians help you get started, or help you dig deeper than you thought you could go.
We welcome your questions in person at our reference desk, on the telephone at 719-389-6662, IM (to the left!), and email.
Many of our librarians are “liaison librarians,” who specialize in working with certain majors and departments. You may wish to use this list of liaison librarians by department to find the librarian who specializes in your class or major.
Consult our research guides for academic disciplines, individual classes, and general research topics. Our guides are designed by subject experts to help you find the best academic sites and databases to use when researching your topic.
Computers and Technology
We have many computers on the first floor and in the North basement of Tutt Library. All computers have standard office software, web browsers, and the like, and many computers have more specialized software for use in coursework as well. See the list of software installed on library computers for details.
Tutt Library also houses the Colorado College Help Desk for your questions about technology at CC; the Computing and Advanced Technology (CAT) Lab for multimedia projects; and computers optimized for students with disabilities.
In addition to computers, we have less cutting-edge technology such as photocopiers (on first and second floor) and microfilm/fiche reader/printers (including one microform scanner).
Our library collections—books, journals, online subscriptions, and more—are selected by CC librarians and faculty to support the CC curriculum. Remember that we can help you obtain books and articles from other libraries via Prospector - Colorado Unified Catalog or Interlibrary Loan. Please ask a librarian if you need help with library collections.
If you would like to suggest that the library purchase a specific item for the collection, please use this recommendation form, or speak to the appropriate liaison librarian .
You can borrow books (and videos, and other stuff) at the circulation desk. The circulation desk is also where you check out books, videos, or other items that a professor has placed on reserve for your class.
Tutt Library simply couldn’t operate without student employees. If you think you would like to work at Tutt Library, please see our information on student employment at the library.
