Large Prints

The prints listed below are housed in the Special Collections mapcase, drawer 22. The accompanying descriptive information was taken from the paper backing of the Japanese prints when they were removed from the frames, Oct. 1979, by the library staff.

JAPANESE PRINTS

1) One of a series of four print depicting scenes in Japan and China about 1890 (penciled in 1894-1895). This scene shows Japanese naval officers planning. Dated Sept. 1895. These four prints were valued at about $5.00 apiece (unframed) at Yamanaka's, Boston, about November, 1926.

2) Sinking of Chinese vessels by Japanese in a war between the two countries about 1890 (penciled in, 1894)

3) A Japanese infantry unit putting to flight a group of Chinese irregulars in a war between the two countries circa   1890.
