Links to Reading Skills Available Online Dartmouth College Academic Skills Center has produced several videos
on reading, study strategies, stress management, strategic learning, and
general chemistry: Harvard Bureau of Study Counsel includes links to resources in reading,
note-taking, study in various academic fields, writing, anxiety, time
management, and exam and test preparation: Here is a link to some tips for reading in Philosophy courses: Colorado State University’s pointers on Critical Reading: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Writing Center has
a number of handouts available. While these focus on writing, they also
include useful suggestions that relate to effective reading in various
contexts: The Learning Center at the University of Texas-Austin offers an array
of handouts, including several on reading approaches: Muskingum College’s Learning Strategies Database offers an interesting
comparison of mature/good reading vs. immature/poor reading behaviors
and emphasizes troubleshooting reading problems: Stanford’s Center for Teaching and Learning includes pdfs for various
learning skills, from note-taking to time management to reading efficiently
