DISABILITY SERVICES

Accommodations

Accommodations, which are determined on a case-by-case basis, will be made depending on the nature of the particular disability and based upon the documentation provided. Requests that are not supported by appropriate documentation or that fundamentally alter the College’s programs or requirements will be denied. However, every effort will be made to implement reasonable and appropriate accommodations.

Timing of Requests for Accommodation:

• Because of the intense pace of the Block Plan, it is vital that requests for academic accommodations be made well in advance of the beginning of a block so the Disability Services staff have sufficient time to evaluate the request and implement necessary accommodations.

• It is the student's responsibility to inform professors of any need for accommodation in a course prior to the beginning of a block or early enough for the faculty member to implement the accommodation(s). The student should provide professors with a copy of the letter of accommodation from the Director of Disability Services and the Associate Dean of the College that lists approved accommodations.

• Please contact the Office of Residential Life at 719-389-6618 for information on housing application deadlines. The residential life and disability services staff members collaborate on the determination of appropriate housing accommodations.
