Accommodations
Reasonable accommodations are determined by Disability Services
in collaboration with the student and are based on assessment of submitted
documentation for its appropriateness and completeness under Section 504
of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act
of 1990, and Disability Services documentation guidelines.
Requests for accommodations that are not supported by appropriate
documentation or that fundamentally alter the College’s programs
or requirements will be denied. However, every effort will be made to
implement reasonable and effective accommodations.
Timing of Requests for Accommodations:
- Due to the intense pace of the Block Plan, it is necessary to request
support services in a timely manner to provide staff with sufficient
time to evaluate the request and implement reasonable accommodations.
- It is the student's responsibility to inform professors of any need
for accommodations in a course prior to the beginning of a Block or
early enough for the faculty member to implement the accommodations.
The student should provide professors with a copy of the letter of accommodation
that lists approved accommodations and is signed by the Director of
Disability Services and the Associate Dean of the College.
- Please contact the Office of Residential Life at 719-389-6618 for
information on housing application deadlines. The residential life and
disability services staff members collaborate on the determination of
appropriate housing accommodations.
