This exhibit explores sugar through historical, scientific, literary and artistic lenses. A series of Sugar Salons will feature sugar-related activities, lectures, and performances throughout the duration of the exhibit.

Performance artist, “electroacoustic sculptor”, punk musician, and choreographer Benoit Maubrey will perform one of his signature pieces, Electronic Guy which features an electroacoustic tuxedo that shapes feedback and movement into sound sculpture.

Professors Bob Lee, Political Science and David Torres-Rouff, History, will debate their interpretations of the video artworks by Afghani artist Lida Abdul featured in the exhibition “The Architecture of Desire Part II.” Audience members are encouraged to join in the conversation; snacks will be provided.
