Q: What are the service requirements in order to retire with benefits from Colorado College?

A: Employees that have reached the age of 55 with at least 10 years of regular full-time or equivalent part-time service at the College are eligible for retirement with benefits. Two part-time years of benefited service equate into one full-time year of benefited service.

Q: If I retire from Colorado College, what benefits will I receive?

A: Below is the list of the benefits that are available to retirees:

Health Insurance

  • Colorado College will allow eligible retirees to enroll in either the active medical plan (under 65 years of age) or in the medical plan offered through the Emeriti Plan (post 65 years of age).

Long-Term Care

  • May continue to participate in long-term care plan by changing from a payroll deduction to a monthly bill.

Dental Insurance

  • May opt to continue under the dental program by paying the full group premium.

Vision Insurance

  • May opt to continue under the vision program by paying the full group premium.

Life Insurance

  • College pays premium for a $5,000 life insurance policy on the Retiree.

Gold Card

  • Retiree and any dependents may continue to hold a gold card and receive full privileges as a full-time employee. Some of these benefits include:
  • discounts to events on campus
  • classes that employees are eligible for
  • free entry into the Museum of Fine Arts
  • use of the El Pomar athletic facilities
  • discount tickets to sporting events
  • Tutt Library privileges

E-Mail Access

  • Retirees may obtain an e-mail address through Colorado College for the remainder of their lifetime.

Rocking Chair/Captain Chair

  • Retirement chairs are ordered through the purchasing office (cost is covered by the department of retiring individual). The purchasing department works with facilities to get the chair to the Retiree.

Invitations

  • Retirees continue to be an active part of the Colorado College community and are invited to such events as the support staff recognition dinner and the annual blood screening.

Tuition Remission

  • The spouse and dependents of the retiree may continue to participate in the tuition remission program.
