Q: Can I apply for a job that is not posted?
A: Applications are only accepted for a posted position.
Q: Where do I find the Human Resources Office?
A: We're in the Spencer Center, 830 N. Tejon, Suite 301. It's located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Cache la Poudre and Tejon Street.
Q: Where can I park when I visit Human Resources?
A: There is metered parking available on Tejon Street directly in front of the Spencer Center. Campus visitors are also permitted to park in any parking area designated for Colorado College.
Q: When should I turn in my application?
A: Applications for vacant positions are accepted as soon as the position is posted, and hiring supervisors may begin interviewing immediately. Applications are accepted until the position has been filled, but candidates should be sure to get their materials completed and turned in as soon as possible before a hiring decision has been made.
Q: What does the "Pay Grade" mean on the position announcement?
A: CC has a formal Job Classification process by which all Non-Exempt Staff positions are graded by a campus committee based on a point-factor system. The Pay Grade is used to determine the minimum starting salary for a new position or a promotion.
Q: Are internal candidates given preference in hiring?
A: Occasionally a position announcement will be posted "for Internal Candidates Only". All other vacancies are open to the public, and the best-qualified candidate will be hired to fill the position, regardless of whether they are a current CC employee or not.
Q: Is Colorado College an equal opportunity employer?

Q: How long after I apply should I expect to be called for an interview?
A: Each search is a little different. Depending on the needs of the department and the schedule of the hiring supervisor, you should expect to hear something within two to three weeks. Only candidates selected for an interview will be called. You may call the main line at 719-389-6421 to check on the status of your application.
Q: At what time will my references be checked?
A: It is customary for a department to conduct reference checks for all final candidates. If appropriate, a department also may verify other application information such as education and salary history. In addition, it is typical for a department to contact an applicant's current and previous employers, as authorized by the applicant on the employment application.
Q: How will I know if I've been selected for the position?
A: Human Resources will call you with an offer of employment after the hiring supervisor has interviewed, checked references, and discussed the offer with the HR Director. Human Resources will then write you an employment letter outlining the details of the offer, and you will be asked to sign and return one copy of that letter if you accept the terms and conditions of employment.
Q: What documents do I need to provide at the time of employment?
A: On or before your first day at work you will be expected to produce the documents necessary to satisfy the I-9 requirements of the Federal Government. For more details, please go to: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-9.pdf.
Q: Does CC offer benefits to new employees?
A: Colorado College offers an excellent benefits package to full and part time staff. Please refer to the benefits FAQ section of this web site for additional information.
Q: What can I expect as far as compensation?
A: The minimum starting salary is posted on the position announcement. If your qualifications surpass the minimum requirements for the position as posted, you may be considered for advanced salary placement. Please be sure to include your salary requirement and salary history on your application for employment. Starting salaries are in effect until June 30. Merit increases are determined by performance evaluation and are effective July 1.
Q: When will I receive my first payroll check?
A: All staff are paid semi-monthly on the 15th and on the last working day of each month. Please see the Hourly Pay Schedule for timesheet deadlines and payroll periods for hourly staff.
Q: When will my performance be evaluated?
A: You will receive a performance evaluation from your Supervisor 90 days after the start of your employment. This evaluation form is located on Colorado College HR Forms . and is meant to be interactive, with you and your supervisor each having an opportunity to evaluate the key performance objectives then meeting to discuss them. Annual performance evaluations are conducted in the spring of each year which are used to determine merit pay increases to be effective the following July 1.
Q: How will I find out about benefits and other College policies?
A: You will be scheduled for a benefits orientation at the time of the offer of employment. During orientation you will be informed of all your benefit options and required paperwork. You will also receive a brief introduction to College policies.
Q: How long after I'm hired before I can apply for a transfer to another department?
A: Upon completion of six months in your current position, you will be eligible to apply for promotions and other positions on campus.
