Description

Graham Wakefield presents a talk about his ongoing digital art project called Artificial Nature.  Developed collaboratively with artist Haru Ji, each iteration in the Artificial Nature  series is a programmed, self-sustaining, digital ecosystem that functions as an immersive, interactive environment. In each version of the project, the artists create designparameters in which virtual organisms consume, grow, metabolize, reproduce, and respond to activities within an endless fluid environment.  Artificial Nature explores some of the questions this art-form raises regarding the relationships between nature and culture, subjectivity and objectivity, creativity and computation.
