Description

A performance of 2 short plays in memory of the Czech playwright, dissident and president VACLAV HAVEL who died just before Christmas. CATASTROPHE was written in 1982 by SAMUEL BECKETT for Havel during one of his several terms of imprisonment.“The fact that Samuel Beckett made himself heard in this way pleased and spoke to me immensely,” recalled Havel. “In my eyes, he was a patriarch or father of modern theatre, who dwelt somewhere up in the heavens isolated from the hubbub down below.” MISTAKE was written by Havel on his release in 1983 as a response and a thank you. This great extraordinary dramatic double act gets its first American outing in this production directed by Prof ANDREW MANLEY with an all-student cast.
