Funding Sources for Bringing International Scholars to Build Area Studies and Provide Students Increased International Contact on Campus

INTERNATIONAL SCHOLAR IN RESIDENCE

The International Scholar in Residence Program at Colorado College seeks to increase the number of international visiting scholars on campus. It is not designed to retain international scholars as tenure-track faculty members, but to establish continuing relationships between the College and the individual scholar and his/her home institution. The title above links you the procedures for area studies committees to propose canidates.

FULBRIGHT FUNDING

The Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence program is designed specifically for smaller colleges. Through this program Colorado College can host an international scholar for either a semester or a full academic year and involve the visitor in faculty development activities such as team-teaching and collaborative research, as well as with curriculum and programmatic development.

The Occasional Lecturer Program allows higher education institutions to invite up to four scholars who are spending a semester or year at other US institutions to visit Colorado College for up to three days. Although the name implies lecturing, the scholars can serve as consultants for program development or act as liaisons in creating connections to institutions abroad. Fulbright provides for travel costs. Honorarium and housing costs must be provided by Colorado College.

Direct Access to the Muslim World brings scholars of Islam from various disciplines to campus for 3-6 weeks to assist with program development, to team-teach, and to do community outreach and public education about Islam.
