The Beach Box

The beach box connects the hydrophones in the water to the computer on land. In the past it held four 12 vdc batteries. Next to the box was an input/output device protected with plastic. In the future the beach box will be three dimensional work of visual and musical art.

The Old Box

The New Box
The old box merely serves the purpose of housing the batterines. The plastic tucked behind the box is where the inputs and outputs are housed.

The new box (still in production) will be painted in a Native Northwestern style. The two visible holes are for two 40 watt speakers that are placed as to be incorporated into the artwork. The speakers will be hooked into all eight hydrophones. A viewer on the beach will be able to listen to any two hydrophones at once. The input connections will be on one end of the box, and the output on the other. The hydrophone selector for the speakers will be next to the outputs. The 12 vdc batteries will rest on the bottom of the box. The pre-amps and the power amplifier will be mounted inside the box. The power amplifier was purchased at Radio Shack and will power the speakers. The Pre-amps are a basic differential amplifier IC.
